Born 1929 in Orange, New Jersey, Walter Jacoby began his affiliation with the YMCA first as a camper, then as a member of camp staff during his high school and college years. After college Jacoby served for two years as a lieutenant in the United States Army, with ten months service in Korea. Jacoby and his family, arrived in Lebanon in 1967.
